Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays?

Thursday, December 25th, 2008

For the past few years, during the holiday season, there have been great debates throughout the United States over saying Happy Holidays instead of Merry Christmas.  I really don’t see what the great fuss is all about.  For me personally, I will say Happy Holidays to people during the season, however I tell people Merry Christmas on Christmas day.

One of the arguements I have heard is that it is the “Christmas Season” and it is a Christian Country, so those who like to say Happy Holidays should just deal with it.  I however find this arguement contradictive to the whole meaning of the season.  Many religious belief, that were around long before Christianity, celebrate a holy signifacance during the month of December.  Whether Jewish, Christian, Muslim or Pagan they all have important traditions they practice.

In the United States, we must not forget that we are a melting pot of religious beliefs, and the meaning of the season is to reflect upon the past year, and celebrate the coming of the new year and to devote ourselves to divinity as we believe in it, to renew our kindred spirit and love for one another.  So for the Christians out there I wish you a very Merry Christmas, for all the others, I hope you have a wonderful Holiday Season in whatever fashion you celebrate it.

The Golden Buddha

“All that we are is the result of what we have thought. The mind is everything. What we think we become.”

Whether past, present of future, the thoughts we dwell on the most are the thoughts that manifest themselves into reality and shape who we are or what we become. Focus your thoughts on the now, feeling the happiness and joy that you have within the moment, and you will manifest that joy in your everyday life.
